It’s an exciting time to be launching a new website whether that’s an upgrade on your existing website or a new business start up website. It’s important to remember that you’ll need to spend some time planning around your launch to market the new site to make the most of your Google rankings. If you have an existing website making changes to it can often affect your current rankings so you’ll also need to have a plan in place to boost them back up again.
By far the most important element for me to advise when someone is launching a new site is preparation and planning - make sure the you’ve planned what you’re going to say and when - does it make sense and will your customer understand and gain some relevant information about your business and want to know more?
What to do if you have a brand new website
- Make sure that you have your website link on all of your social media / email footers / business cards.
- Make a social media plan around launching your new site & what message you’re putting out there.
- Can you create interaction between your posts and your customers?
- Make sure that you’re adding your website link to any social posts.
- Make a list of all the types of social media posts that you could do, write or type them out and plan them in for the next month so that you’re not trying to do too much at once.
- Make a list of keywords that best describe your business, what you offer and how you help.
- Make a list of Hashtags and use them on your posts - these assist you in being seen by a wider audience.
- Double check that it’s clear what you do / how you can help and that a customer can easily contact you.
- Share your business and the passion that you have for it, people will want to cheer you on.
What to do if you’re upgrading your site to launch again
- Get ready to explain what you’ve done, is it better for your customer and why?
- If you’ve added any new tech ie blog / video gallery / maybe a download - shout about it and share the link to each page when you talk about it.
- Make a plan around the re-launch, write/type the posts out and gather your images & videos for use
- Create some interaction posts to ensure likes / shares and comments.
- Double check that it’s clear what you do / how you can help and that a customer can easily contact you.
- Do you have reviews / testimonials that you could share?
- Got an existing database - let them know what’s happening and how exciting it is, share the link.
- Share your business and the passion that you have for it, people will want to cheer you on.
Sharing your business vision and your values can often be something that gets missed when you’re posting on social media, these are important factors to share so that your customers can get to know you and then business and you build up trust. Use the keywords list that you’ve made for your business and incorporate these as much as possible when posting anywhere or writing about your business.
